Ecole Communautaire Jean Paul II
One of the father-reaching schools in the network, the school in the community of Matbatimant rests atop the peak of a mountain above the Summits school in the community of Lacolline that rests in the valley. The village’s names translates to mean, “remnants of the boat,” because according the legend part of Noah’s Ark was found nearby. The community is vulnerable to deforestation for making charcoal to sell in the markets; but still without this school, children would be forced to hike down the mountain each day to find one closer into the town of Lascahobas.
