At Summits, we recognize that educators are the most important factor in improving student outcomes, and that access to an education delivered by determined, compassionate, skillful teachers is one of the most fundamental ways to change the landscape of poverty.
Traditionally, efforts to advance education in the developing world have focused on investments in concrete materials; schools are built, curricula designed, and then with any remaining resources, investments are made in teachers. This approach is backward.
Effective education systems are built upon the foundation of well-trained and well-supported teachers and administrators. We start our work by investing in teachers, and through our collaborative impact framework, we assemble partners to help address the additional obstacles to learning such as lack of infrastructure, school feeding programs, and learning materials.
